MALLEUS TRIO: ABOUT THE BAND
Malleus Trio is an exciting instrumental band based out of Vancouver, B.C. Their music fuses high-octane improvisation with dynamic original compositions. Having forged their musical rapport for over a decade, there is a palpable chemistry pulsing through their music. The group’s language speaks to both familiarity and risk, resulting in a sound that is both unconventional and accessible.
The band will mark the release of their third album, “On/Off” in Summer 2023 with performances at Canadian jazz festivals in Toronto, Medicine Hat, Calgary, andVictoria. With this new record
in hand, Malleus Trio map new terrain for open-minded ears.
Malleus Trio features bassist Geordie Hart (The Boom Booms), Dominic Conway (Mary Ancheta Quartet) on tenor saxophone, and drummer Ben Brown (Pugs & Crows).

DRUMS
Ben Brown is a mover and shaker. He is the founder Music And Movement Mondays (MAMM). As a drummer he received a Juno Award for Best Instrumental Album of the year with Pugs and Crows. Brown's compositions have been featured at dance festivals in Vancouver, Toronto and Mexico. www.benbrownsounds.co

Over the last 15 years,Vancouver-based saxophonist Dominic Conway has built a career as a sought-after collaborator and freelancer in a wide variety of genres, ranging from rhythm & blues to the avant-garde and points between. On stage or in studio, his broad musical interests, love of improvisation, and passionate delivery have seen Dominic work with some of North America's finest musicians, including David Hidalgo, John Hammond, Steve Dawson, Jim Byrnes, Arkells, and The Paperboys. He is currently active in Vancouver bands Mary Ancheta Quartet, Coco Jafro and Malleus Trio.
GEORDIE HART
UPRIGHT BASS
Geordie Hart is a Vancouver based Upright and electric bassist, arranger and composer. Over the past 10 years he’s primarily written, performed and toured with the bands Malleus Trio and The Boom Booms. Both groups cover a wide field of genres ranging from R&B to Free Jazz to Soca and beyond. In 2017 he completed a degree in applied performance on upright bass at VCC. With his combined experience and education, Geordie is a versatile bassist keen for a challenge.
